Tight shoes? These are the dangers of wearing too tight shoes.

The dangers of wearing too tight shoes.

It happens to the best of us, we see a pair of shoes we absolutely love and we sacrifice the comfort and the health of our feet for fashion.

In the moment we don’t think much of it, its just a bit tight or its just a blister that will go eventually. When in reality by making the decision to wear shoes that don’t fit correctly your choosing to undergo consequences that are certainly not worth the long term health issues.

Feather and Sole design shoes that are fashionable, beautiful yet comfortable that don’t carry the unnecessary burden of damaging your feet.

Whether the damage is long term like lower back and hip pain or short term like a blister why suffer this when there are shoes out there that are specifically made for you and to avoid these terrible issues?!

What tight shoes can do to your feet.

The effects caused by wearing shoes that are too tight may not seem that severe when you are blinded by the beauty of the shoes, however if they are not reversed early the effects can be long term. Your goal when choosing a pair of shoes should be to find a shoe that fits your foot not the other way round.

Foot pain.

The dreaded foot pain. This is only one of the tight shoe symptoms. Sacrificing your comfort for a preferred shoe. Although it can be mild whilst wearing the shoes, over time your natural arch in your foot can change unnaturally causing you to then have a long term aching feeling ,you will then struggle to find
comfort within another pair of shoes again. Generally wearing too tight shoes restricts your foot causing it not to be able to move naturally and can aggravate or even cause long term conditions like plantar fasciitis.

In addition to this another form of foot pain caused by wearing too tight shoes is pain in your heel or foot called metatarsalgia which again by not throwing your incorrect fitting shoes away you are adopting another long term symptom.

Soreness and pain in the legs and lower back.

This tight shoe symptom is most definitely one of the most severe effects of wearing too tight shoes. In most cases it will be irreversible meaning it will not disappear after the so called “break in period”(which is just a myth). There is no such thing as a break in period when it comes to shoes you simply just get used to the pain which doesn’t mean the damage isn’t still being done.

By wearing these too tight shoes you are causing wear and tear on the discs between the vertebrae that absorb shock and may strain the joints and ligaments in your back. Sounds scary doesn’t it!?

Bunions.

At first thought we don’t think much of bunions being caused by wearing too tight shoes and even when we do we don’t think of them as very serious. However the discomfort of them has the potential to need surgery for it to be removed if the simple icing your foot technique doesn’t do any justice for the excruciating pain after a long day of wearing your too tight shoes.

Ingrown toenails.

Ingrown toenails are a very common tight shoe symptom. They are caused when you put your foot in a shoe that is too tight in the toe box, which causes the first toe to rub against the second resulting in abnormal pressure on the nail resulting in inflammation and nail pain. The most simple solution to this issue is to wear a wider fit shoe that will have a wider toe box relieving the pressure.

Hammer toe and crossover toe.

Hammer toe and crossover toe are both similar in the way that they are caused by your toes not laying flat in the toe box of the shoe leading to the muscles attached in the toes to weaken if you keep putting your feet in this same position. The simple fix to this is to treat your feet to a pair of shoes that will fit correctly with enough room to accommodate for all of your toes ,not cramp them all together.
