How to avoid swollen feet and ankles in the summer

Beautiful sunshine, late summer evenings in the garden, days out at the beach. British Summer time can be a dream……unless you suffer with swollen feet and ankles.

Follow our top tips on how to avoid swollen feet and ankles in the summer;
  • Ditch the salt…The more salt you consume, the more your body retains water…the higher chance you have in swelling.

  • Move! Understood, this is the last thing on your mind when you are sore but getting the blood in your veins moving will encourage circulation and stop gravity holding it in your tired, swollen ankles. Even if you are just giving them a wiggle under your desk.

  • Elevate…this may not always be possible, your fellow passengers on the train may not agree this is the best idea… but when you can, get your feet up, raising them above your heart will get the circulation going.

  • Be kind…the warmer your feet get the more uncomfortable they will become. Particularly in the summer months, be kind to your feet. Choose leathers or breathable textiles and that is a good fitting. Something like our super soft Palermo in gold will keep your feet cool and comfortable all day long. Click here to shop
